Since 1988, Waterline Systems has been helping sailors get the most out of thier boats. Born in the back of a pick-up, Waterline Systems has grown from fixing J/24s in parking lots to a world respected boatbuilder, boat yard and speed shop. We haven't strayed far from our roots though. We are still fanatical about one-design sailing.

We love winning regattas ourselves, but we get an even bigger kick seeing our customers win!

J/24 2012 Worlds-NAs- 2014 Worlds

With the announcement that the 2012 J/24 Worlds in Rochester is to be an open event, comes a hughe headache for foreign teams. NO CHARTER BOATS. The boats that were available for charter in the past will still be there, but thier owners will be sailing them.

USWatercraft and Waterline Systems have a program for overseas teams that includes a new boat, and logistics support. You will be able to compete in the States with a minimum of hassles and with the knowledge that your boat will not be holding you back.

J/22 Worlds Charter Boats

We have been getting many requests for charter boats for the 2012 J/22 World Championship in New Orleans. Honestly, we don't have any.

The best bet for overseas teams who want a competitive boat will be to buy a new USWatercraft boat at the special price and ship it home. As an incentive, we will deliver your new boat to the event free.

Travis Wins J/24 North American
(Halifax, NS)-  Congratulations to our own TRAVIS ODENBACH, on winning the 2011 J/24 North Americans in Halifax, NS.

Our trusty shop boat, "Pipe Dream / Waterline Systems" was sailed  by Travis Odenbach and his team of Rossi Milev, Ben McAndrew, Chris Morgan and Patrick O'Conner.

Trav is relatively new to the J/24, having been sailing it for less than a year.  But, this summer he moved from Rochester to RI, to attend "Dunes' grad school"... majoring in Sanding boats and sailing Fleet 50 Thursday Night races.

The boys stayed remarkably consistent through out the regatta.  The worst score on day one was a 7, day 2 a 6 and on the final day a 5!

Pairing the 5 with a one and a two on the final day left them waiting at the finish line, counting boats between themselves and John.

With throwouts and tie-breakers. they needed John to be tenth.  On the last leg, it looked like John was in a tough fight for 9, 10 or 11.  It was 11, and Travis Odenbach was the 2011 J/24 North American Champion!

Way to go Trav!

The Rolex International Women’s Keelboat Championship

This year's event more than lived up to expectations.  I was on the water each day, doing live updates via twitter and our website.

Every year, the level of sailing in the top group is extremely high.  For me, what separated this regatta from years past is how high the level of sailing was in the middle of the pack.

Cory, Anna, Sally and Carol still make up the top group, but the gap between them and the rest of the fleet has really narrowed.  There were at least 25 teams with a legitimate shot at the top ten.

There's a youth movement afoot too. Seven teams of high-school girls participated in the 'Next Step' Clinic the week before the regatta, with three of them racing in the regatta itself.

In case you were thinking, ".. that's cute." get over it. They were fully legit.  Katja Sertl's team schooled their moms in a couple of races, enroute to winning the last race and ending up 8th overall.  The moms they schooled were Cory and Amy who won the regatta!

The regatta was incredibly close from start to finish.  The last race saw the top 4 boats all finish overlapped.  Sally Barkow made an amazing comeback on the last run, moving from 8th to first, but a starting line foul made it all for naught.

In the end, it was Cory Sertl and team winning, with Anna Tunnecliff second, Sally third and Carol Cronin fourth.

It was a J/22 regatta, so as you'd expect USWatercraft and Waterline Systems boats totally dominated,  9 of the top ten, including 1,2,3,4,5.

When you are dealing with strict, international class rules like we do, it's tough to make a boat better. It's not easy, but we manage. Over the years and years or racing, fixing and souping up, we know what makes these boats tick.

Some things, like re-designing the deck tooling and making the interiors more sensible, we need to get the rules changed to do. But, the biggest "secret" to what makes a USWatercraft boat fast is craftsmanship. Our team is made up of raceboat builders. These guys know that the boat is going to be raced and they take pride that in making sure that it will be fast.

When you buy a USWatercraft boat, not only do you know that you are getting a great boat, but also that you are buying into a great class! Our classes are owner run, are world-wide and have great, well attended regattas everywhere!
